The event will now be three days, rather than four - ending Sunday with the final weigh-in of the top anglers. So the 88 best bass anglers on the planet were sitting at the fish camps Thursday working on their plans and gear for the kickoff today. The first day of fishing Thursday was blown out and canceled because of high winds. Most every fish camp along the river is maxed out, for the speck bite and the Bassmaster Elite tournament out of Palatka. The campground at Dead Lake is overflowing with Georgia license plates, and that's another sign of the expectations. With the full moon this weekend this looks to be the best fishing of the year. The speckled perch are full of roe throughout the region and the females are moving in and out of the lily pads, dropping their roe.
